WORDS OF WITNESS
An Emmaus Experience by Teri Armpriester
To know and experience servanthood is to know and experience Jesus Christ. I've had the privilege and honor to serve in different capacities on Oceanside's first three women's teams. Each time, the blessings were far greater than any sacrifices made to attend.
On Oceanside #6, God assigned me to serve as a Chapel Angel with another angel and servant of our Lord, Toni Thompson. Spending 72 hours on my knees in prayer was by far the most rewarding experience I could ever imagine. It reminds me of a story in Mark 10. Verses 35-37 tell us "He said to them ÔWhat do you want Me to do for you?' and they responded "Grant us that we may sit, one on your right hand and the other on your left, in your Glory". I believe this beautifully describes Toni's and my experience. Verse 45 tells us "For even the Son of man did not come to he served; but to serve and to give His life as ransom for many."
Before Jesus went to the cross, He made sure the disciples understood servanthood. He redefined leadership by taking a towel and washing each of the disciple's dirty feet. In His life, biblical leadership and servanthood were synonymous.
The followers of Jesus Christ should be easily recognized, humbly ready for service in every way. Ephesians Chapter 6:5-6 says "servants, be obedient to those who are your masters . with fear and trembling in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the Heart."
Being involved with these walks was exciting, with people's lives changing right before my eyes. I truly understand why we sing "Have you seen Jesus My Lord." His presence is here in plain view. My heart seeks to glorify God in all I do. De Colores my brothers and sisters!
